CSD Retirement Trust offers strong performance, low fees, value-added services

The CSD Retirement Trust continues its steadfast commitment to improving retirement planning and outcomes while reducing employees’ costs. Membership stands at 68 participating school districts in 2025, with geographic boundaries encompassing districts from Missouri, Wisconsin, Kansas and North Dakota. The ten CSD-GKC districts currently participating are Grain Valley, Harrisonville, Independence, Kansas City, Kearney, Lee’s Summit, Liberty, Oak Grove, Platte County and Smithville.

In addition to a robust platform of well-diversified investment options containing high-performing funds, the Trust continues its focus on total financial wellness support. Student loan debt management and repayment solutions are provided by Got Zoom and Savvi. Through a subscription service paid for by the Trust, Best Money Moves, financial education and literacy support is available to all of a district’s employees, not just Trust participants.

Steady growth continued in 2025, with the Trust serving more than 10,590 participants and over $356 million in total plan assets. CBIZ continues to serve as the Trust’s financial advisory firm. Investment options continue to show solid performance when compared against Morningstar category peers.

ability to lower investment management fees, thereby passing along those cost savings to its participants through reduced fees. Since the launch of the Trust in 2010, total investment management fees for an individual have been systematically reduced, bringing significant cost savings to investors. The Trust’s annual headcount fee remains at $10 per annum, and total basis points remain at 21 bps, less than .25 percent. And…unlike many companies that rely on annuity-based platforms that often include hidden fees and surrender charges, the CSD Retirement Trust is built entirely on a mutual fund platform. This structure features no commissions and no surrender charges, providing greater transparency and flexibility for participants.

The CSD Retirement Trust provides CSDGKC districts with a reliable, appealing alternative to managing these funds and processes in-house.
