Legislative Liaison Services

CSDGKC legislative liaison services begin with its Legislative Committee which includes one representative from each member district and the CSDGKC Executive Director.  The Legislative Committee meets two to five times, as necessary, to craft both state and federal legislative platforms.  These platforms are put in a brochure and distributed to the general membership. The legislative platforms are posted under Missouri and Federal platforms. The legislative platforms serve as the basis for all CSDGKC legislative efforts.

CSDGKC then hires a registered lobbyist to represent CSDGKC in the Missouri Legislature.  The lobbying firm Rackers and Associates has been the CSDGKC representing body to the Missouri Legislature the past three years and will continue this service in 2010-2011.

Essential to CSDGKC efforts is accurate and timely information.  CSDGKC uses legislative alerts and the "members only" section of its website to keep members informed.  Superintendents and Board of Education members are regularly called to testify before legislative committees as part of the overall lobbying effort.  It is very important that school districts are aware of pending legislation and stand ready to communicate personally with their elected officials.  As a result, CSDGKC legislative efforts often ask individual districts to communicate directly with their legislator on specific legislation.
